Copyright Infringement Puts Employers at eRisk
When an employee improperly places copyrighted materials on the Internet, the employer can face liability for copyright infringement. So, too, when employees download or duplicate copyrighted software, employers risk visits from the Software Police and fines of $150,000 per software title infringed.
ePolicyInstitute.com recommends employers educate employees about copyright infringement and software piracy, and implement written Internet and Software Policies that prohibit employees from downloading or duplicating copyrighted copy, art, music, or software.
